Ingredients/Components
- butter, softened - 1 c
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 3 item
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- powdered sugar - 2 c
- hot water - 2 4
- lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
- cake flour
- grated lemon peel - 2 Tbsp
- Grease and flour a tube pan
How to make lemon pound cake:
Heat oven to 325°. Grease and flour a tube pan. Beat sugar and butter in a large bowl at medium speed. Add eggs one at a time. Mix flour and soda and add to sugar mixture alternately with milk. Beat until well blended. Stir in lemon peel and juice. Spread in pan and bake about 1 hour. Cool 20 minutes in pan then remove to wire rack. Cool completely.Glaze:1/3 c. butter1/2 tsp. grated lemon peel2 c. powdered sugar2 to 4 Tbsp. hot water For glaze, heat butter in a saucepan until melted. Stir in lemon peel and sugar. Add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until thin enough to drizzle. Spread over cooled cake and allow to drizzle down the sides.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Weeknight.
