  • sugar - 1/3 c
  • egg yolks - 3 item
  • cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
  • can Eagle Brand condensed milk - 14 oz
  • vanilla wafers - 1 item
  • juice of 3 lemons
  • lemon rind - 1 tsp
  • Meringue:3 egg whites

How to make lemon meringue pie:

Meringue:3 egg whites1/4 tsp. cream of tartar1/3 c. sugar Combine lemon juice, milk and rind. Blend in egg yolks. Crush enough vanilla wafers to form crust in greased 9-inch pie pan. Line sides of pan with whole wafers. Pour mixture into shell. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in sugar until stiff peaks form. Spread on filling and bake at 325° until meringue is golden, 12 to 15 minutes. Cool; chill 2 hours.
