Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 c
- eggs - 2 item
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- nuts optional - 1/2 c
- white sugar - 1 c
- juice of 1 lemon
- shortening or margarine - 1/2 c
- grated rind of 1 lemon
How to make lemon loaf:
Cream shortening. Add sugar and eggs. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Add lemon rind and nuts.Pour batter into a large loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 45 to 60 minutes.
Dissolve 1/4 cup sugar in juice of a lemon. Pour this over baked lemon loaf.
