- sugar - 1 c
- eggs - 2 item
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- walnuts, chopped - 1 c
- lemon rind - 1 item
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition
How to make lemon loaf:
Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Add sifted dry ingredients in thirds alternately with milk, beating until smooth after each addition. Fold in lemon rind. Turn into a greased, foil-lined 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 1 hour.Topping:1 lemon (juice)1/4 c. sugar Mix lemon juice and sugar; pour over bread while hot. Let stand in pan until cool.Recipe categories: Breads, Lunch/snacks, Kid Friendly.
