  • sugar
  • eggs - 2 item
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour
  • evaporated milk - 3/4 c
  • water - 1/4 c
  • baking powder - 3 tsp
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • nuts - 1/2 c
  • lemon juice - 1/4 c
  • grated lemon rind - 2 Tbsp

How to make lemon cream bread:

Cut cream cheese in 1/4-inch cubes and refrigerate. Sift flour, etc. Cream shortening. Add eggs. Alternate water and dry ingredients. Fold in cream cheese, nuts and rind.

Turn into loaf pan. Bake at 375° for 45 to 50 minutes. Brush with juice (combined with 1/3 cup sugar and boiled) while hot. Cool 30 minutes before removing from pan.
