Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- eggs - 2 item
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- chopped walnuts - 1/2 c
- margarine - 1/4 c
- rind of 1 lemon, grated
How to make lemon bread:
Cream margarine and sugar. Add beaten eggs and lemon. Add dry ingredients and milk. Beat with electric mixer. Add nuts. Bake for 50 minutes at 350°. Allow to cool in pan briefly; pour over it the juice of lemon with 1/3 cup sugar that has been dissolved. Allow to cool in pan.(It is best to mix lemon juice and sugar before baking bread and let it stand to make a syrup.)
