Ingredients/Components

  • sour cream - 1 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • lemon juice - 2 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1/4 c
  • chopped celery - 1/4 c
  • mayonnaise
  • oregano - 1/2 tsp
  • basil - 1/2 tsp
  • can water chestnuts, sliced - 1 item
  • head lettuce, torn into bite size pieces - 1 item
  • frozen peas, uncooked and separated - 1 pkg

How to make layered vegetable salad:

Dressing:1 1/2 c. mayonnaise1 c. sour cream2 Tbsp. lemon juice1/2 tsp. oregano1/2 tsp. basil1/2 tsp. salt1/8 tsp. pepper Layer first 5 ingredients in a large bowl in the order listed. Sprinkle Romano cheese over entire top. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

At least 2 hours before serving, mix dressing. Cover entire top of salad with dressing. Garnish with hard-boiled eggs and 8 slices of bacon fried crisp and crumbled. Refrigerate.
