Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • pkg - 1 oz
  • chopped celery - 1/2 c
  • shredded Cheddar cheese - 8 12
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • green pepper, chopped - 1/2 item
  • bacon bits optional - 1 item
  • medium head lettuce, shredded - 1 item
  • mayo not Miracle Whip - 2 c
  • tomatoes, in small bits optional - 1/2 c

How to make layer salad:

Mix mayo and sugar very well. In a glass 9 x 13 dish, layer veggies starting with lettuce, then peas, celery, onions and green pepper. Spread mayo dressing over veggies. The dressing should be somewhat warm; it is easier to spread. Add shredded cheese and tomatoes, if wanted. Top with bacon bits. Chill for at least 1 hour or so.
