Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • water - 2 c
  • garlic powder - 1 tsp
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • grated Parmesan cheese - 1 c
  • chopped onion - 3/4 c
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • oregano - 1/2 tsp
  • shredded Mozzarella cheese - 8 oz
  • chopped parsley - 1 Tbsp
  • cans tomato paste - 2 oz
  • lasagna - 8 oz
  • can tomatoes - 1 oz
  • Ricotta or cottage cheese - 1 lb

How to make lasagna:

Lightly brown beef and onion. Add tomatoes (put through blender or cut with edge of spoon), tomato paste, water, parsley, salt, sugar, garlic powder, pepper and oregano. Simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, cook lasagna as directed; drain.

In 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan, spread about 1 cup sauce. Then alternate layers of lasagna, sauce, Mozzarella, Ricotta and Parmesan cheeses, ending with sauce, Mozzarella and Parmesan. Bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes until lightly browned and bubbling. Allow to stand for 5 minutes. Makes 8 servings.
