Ingredients/Components

  • pkg - 1 lb
  • milk - 2 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 3 Tbsp
  • butter - 4 Tbsp
  • water - 1/2 c
  • egg yolks - 2 item
  • dash of salt - 1 item
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • Parmesan cheese - 3/4 c
  • clove garlic - 1 item
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • olive oil - 1/4 c
  • Mozzarella cheese - 1 pkg
  • small onion - 1 item
  • bay leaves - 2 item
  • large onion - 1 item
  • small green pepper, chopped - 1 item
  • large can tomato paste - 1 item
  • 2 1/2 can tomatoes

How to make lasagna:

Chop large onion and garlic; fry slightly in hot olive oil. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, bay leaves, salt, pepper and water; stir well. Toss in ground beef in small pieces. Cover and cook over low heat for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Finely chop small onion; cook in melted butter for about 2 minutes. Mix in flour until smooth. Add Parmesan cheese and salt. Gradually stir in milk; continue cooking over low heat, stirring constantly, until sauce is consistency of heavy cream. Beat egg yolks slightly. Mix in a little hot cheese mixture slowly (to prevent egg from curdling), then mix all yolks into cheese mixture and cook over low heat for 10 minutes longer. Remove from heat.

Cook lasagna noodles as directed, then drain. Grease a large baking dish; put layer of noodles on bottom of dish. Pour over enough tomato sauce to cover; add a little cheese sauce to this. Continue with these layers until ingredients are all used. Top with slices of Mozzarella cheese. Bake for 20 minutes at 325°, then broil a few minutes until cheese surface is bubbly gold. Serves 6.
