Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • water
  • garlic powder - 1 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • grated Parmesan cheese
  • chopped onions
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • ground beef - 2 lb
  • cottage cheese - 1/2 lb
  • oregano - 1/2 tsp
  • basil - 3/4 tsp
  • can tomato paste - 1 oz
  • chopped parsley - 1 Tbsp
  • Mozzarella cheese - 12 oz
  • Ricotta cheese - 1 lb
  • lasagna noodles - 9 item
  • can tomatoes - 1 oz
  • fennel seed - 1/2 tsp
  • salad or olive oil - 2 Tbsp

How to make lasagna:

In heavy pan, lightly brown beef and onions in oil. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce and paste, water, salt, garlic powder, parsley, basil, oregano, fennel seed, pepper and sugar. Simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Meanwhile, cook lasagna noodles as directed. Be sure to add oil to water so noodles do not stick together.

Blend Ricotta cheese and cottage cheese together. In 9 x 13-inch pan, spread 1 cup of sauce, then alternate layers of noodles, sauce, Ricotta and cottage cheese mixture, Mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese. Use 3 noodles per layer. End with sauce, Mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese. Bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes, until lightly browned and bubbling. Allow to set for 15 minutes. Cut in squares to serve.
