sugar - 2 c
vanilla - 1 tsp
milk - 1 c
salt - 1/2 tsp
butter - 1/2 lb
coconut - 2 c
baking powder - 3 tsp
boiling water - 1/3 c
nuts - 2 c
raisins - 2 c
cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
cake flour - 3 c
egg yolks, beaten - 6 item
white corn syrup - 2 Tbsp
large marshmallows, cut up - 3 item
well beaten egg whites - 6 item
Sift flour, salt and baking powder

How to make lane cake:

Filling:1/2 lb. butter2 c. sugar6 egg yolks, beaten1/2 c. milk2 c. nuts2 c. raisins2 c. coconut1 tsp. vanilla Batter: Cook butter and sugar together. Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Add milk to sugar and butter. Add flour to mixture. Fold in egg whites, well beaten. Bake at 375° in 9-inch layer pans, lined on bottom with wax paper. Bake about 20 minutes until done.

Filling: In a 2-quart saucepan, cook and stir all the time, the first 4 ingredients until thick. Remove from heat. Stir in raisins, nuts, coconut and vanilla. Put layers together with filling between layers. Do not put filling on top.Frosting:1 large egg white1 c. sugar3 large marshmallows, cut up2 Tbsp. white corn syrup1/4 tsp. cream of tartar1/4 tsp. salt1/3 c. boiling water Put all ingredients except water in top of double boiler over boiling water. Add water. Beat with mixer at high speed until stiff. Cover top and sides of cake with frosting.
