  • water - 3 qt
  • vinegar - 1 qt
  • alum - 1 item
  • dill - 1 item
  • turmeric - 1/4 1/2
  • cucumbers - 1 item
  • cloves garlic or minced garlic - 1 item

How to make kosher dills:

Soak in cold water for 5 hours enough cucumbers for 7 quarts, then slice and put in jars. In bottom of each jar, put 1/4 teaspoon alum, 1 clove garlic or 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic and scant 1 teaspoon dill. Bring remaining ingredients to a boil and pour over pickles and seal.
