Ingredients/Components
- water - 2 qts
- vinegar - 1 qt
- hot pepper - 1 item
- cucumbers - 1 item
- cup salt - 1 item
- pinch of alum - 1 item
- garlic bud - 1 item
- dill heat - 1 item
- dill stalk - 1 item
How to make kosher dill pickles:
Put 1 dill heat and a piece of dill stalk or if you don't have garden dill use about 2 Tbsp. dill seed, pepper, garlic bud and alum in your jar. Wash cucumbers and pack in jars.Heat water, salt and vinegar to boiling. Pour in jars and seal. Makes approximately 7 quarts.
You can also use green sliced tomatoes instead of cucumbers.
