- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 1/2 c
- soda - 1/4 tsp
- buttermilk - 3/4 c
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- vegetable oil - 2 Tbsp
- egg white - 1 item
- corn meal - 1 c
How to make kentucky cornbread:
Preheat oven at 425°. Lightly oil iron skillet or heavy baking pan and heat in oven. Sift dry ingredients. Beat egg whites, buttermilk and oil; add to dry ingredients. Stir lightly with wooden spoon. Pour batter into preheated skillet. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until done. Makes 6 servings, 160 calories per serving.Recipe categories: < 60 mins, Breads, Time to make.
