John wayne casserole
Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 4 item
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- evaporated milk - 2/3 c
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- sharp Cheddar cheese, grated - 1 lb
- Monterey Jack cheese, grated - 1 lb
- cans green chiles, diced - 2 oz
- to 15 cherry tomatoes, halved - 12 item
How to make john wayne casserole:
Combine chiles and all cheeses in bowl. Put in well buttered shallow 2-quart casserole. Beat 4 egg whites until stiff. Beat 4 egg yolks, evaporated milk, flour, salt and pepper together. Gently fold in whites. Pour over cheese mixture using fork to ooze it through cheese. Bake 30 minutes at 325°. Remove from oven and add tomatoes around edge. Return to oven baking 30 minutes longer or until inserted knife comes out clean.Recipe categories: American, Main dish, Casseroles.
