Jambalaya
Ingredients/Components
- hot Italian sausage, cut in 1-inch pieces - 1/2 lb
- large onion, coarsely chopped - 1 item
- large green pepper, coarsely chopped - 1 item
- cloves garlic, crushed - 6 item
- uncooked long grain rice - 2/3 c
- cooked ham, cut in 1-inch pieces - 2 c
- can tomatoes - 1 oz
- chicken broth - 1 c
- chili powder - 3 Tbsp
- turmeric - 1/2 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- thyme - 1/8 tsp
- pkg - 1 oz
How to make jambalaya:
Brown sausage in a large skillet. Remove sausage from skillet and drain. Add onion, green pepper and garlic. Saute until lightly browned. Add rice. Cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in sausage, ham, tomatoes, chicken broth and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Pour into 4-quart casserole. Bake, covered, in a 375° oven for 40 to 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Place shrimp on top and bake, covered, for 10 minutes more. Serves 8.Recipe categories: Poultry, Meat, Cajun.
