  • eggs, beaten - 5 item
  • sugar - 2 c
  • plain flour - 3 c
  • butter - 1 c
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • cloves - 1/2 tsp
  • allspice - 1 tsp
  • raisins - 1 c
  • chopped pecans - 1 c
  • blackberry jam - 1/2 c
  • vanilla

How to make jam cake:

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add well beaten eggs. Sift flour before measuring twice. Add all spices to flour. Dissolve soda in buttermilk; add to flour mixture. Put everything together, mixing well. Flour raisins and nuts; add to mixture and stir. Add jam; mix well with spoon. Put into 2 (9-inch) pans or Bundt pan; bake for 40 minutes at 350°. Very good plain.
