Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 2 tsp
- eggs - 6 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- brown sugar - 1 c
- nutmeg - 2 tsp
- soda - 2 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- chopped nuts optional - 1 c
- powdered sugar - 5 c
- raisins - 1 c
- jam - 2 c
- allspice - 2 tsp
- shortening Crisco - 1 c
- flour plain - 4 c
- Sift flour and spices together
How to make jam cake:
Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs. Sift flour and spices together. Add soda and buttermilk, then raisins and nuts. Mix well. Bake in moderate oven about 325° until done in 2 (9-inch) cake pans.Caramel Icing:1 c. margarine2 c. brown sugar1/2 c. milk2 tsp. vanilla5 c. powdered sugar1 c. chopped nuts (optional) Melt butter in saucepan. Add brown sugar and bring to a boil. Add milk and bring to a boil again. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and powdered sugar. Beat until smooth. Frost cake.
