Ingredients/Components

  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • white sugar - 1/2 c
  • Crisco - 3/4 c
  • flour - 3 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • soda
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • cloves - 1 tsp
  • nutmeg - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • eggs - 4 item
  • blackberry jam - 1 pt
  • box raisins - 1 item

How to make jam cake:

Cream together butter and sugar. Put soda in buttermilk. Sift dry ingredients together, adding alternately with the buttermilk. Add eggs; blend and fold in jam and raisins. Bake in 10-inch tube pan at 350° for about 1 or 1 1/2 hours according to your oven. Test with toothpick. I always line my pan with greased brown paper sack.
