Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 1/4 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • garlic powder - 1/4 tsp
  • pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1/3 c
  • chopped celery - 1/4 c
  • catsup - 1/2 c
  • chopped green pepper - 1/4 c
  • ground beef
  • Italian seasoning, divided - 3/4 tsp
  • slice soft white bread, torn into small pieces - 1 item

How to make italian meat loaf:

Preheat oven to 350°. In small skillet, melt butter. Add onion, celery, green pepper, 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning and garlic powder. Cook and stir over medium heat until tender. In medium mixing bowl, crumble beef. Add onion mixture, bread pieces, milk, egg, salt and pepper. Mix well and press into 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.

Combine catsup and remaining 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning. Spread over top of loaf. Bake at 350° for 1 to 1 1/4 hours or until set. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
