Italian lasagna
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 tsp
- pkg - 8 oz
- salt - 2 tsp
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- grated Parmesan cheese - 3/4 c
- chopped onion - 1 c
- sliced pitted ripe olives - 1 c
- parsley flakes - 1 Tbsp
- ground beef - 1/2 lb
- 1 lb - 4 c
- basil leaves
- cans tomato paste - 2 oz
- garlic cloves, minced - 2 item
- Ricotta cheese - 15 oz
- fennel seed - 1/2 tsp
- bulk Italian sausage - 1 lb
- can tomatoes, undrained, cut up - 1 oz
How to make italian lasagna:
Prepare lasagna noodles according to package directions; drain. In large skillet, combine sausage, ground beef, onion and garlic. Cook until sausage is no longer pink and onion is tender; drain. Stir in next 7 ingredients. Bring to boil. Reduce heat. Simmer 20 minutes. In medium bowl, blend Ricotta cheese, egg, parsley and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Spoon 1 1/2 cups meat sauce into 9 x 13-inch baking dish.Layer 1/3 each of lasagna noodles, remaining meat sauce, Ricotta mixture, olives, Mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers. Cover; bake in 375° oven for 25 minutes. Uncover; bake until hot, about 20 minutes longer. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.
