Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 5 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- shortening - 1/2 c
- pecans - 1 c
- box powdered sugar - 1 item
- stick oleo - 1 item
- cream cheese, softened
- small can coconut - 1 item
How to make italian cream cake:
Icing:8 oz. cream cheese, softened1 stick oleo1 box powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla Cake: Combine soda and buttermilk; let stand a few minutes. Cream sugar, oleo and shortening. Add egg yolks, one at a time (beating after each addition). Add buttermilk alternately with flour to cream mixture. Stir in vanilla. Beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry. Fold into batter. Gently stir in nuts and coconut. Bake in 3 cake pans (greased pans). Bake at 325° for 20 to 25 minutes.Icing: Beat cream cheese and oleo together, then add powdered sugar and vanilla. Put on cooled cake.
