  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • chopped pecans - 1 c
  • flour - 2 c
  • stick margarine - 1 item
  • eggs, separated - 5 item
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • box powdered sugar - 1 lb
  • can coconut - 1 oz
  • Add egg yolks; beat well

How to make italian cream cake:

Cream the margarine, shortening and sugar. Add egg yolks; beat well. Combine flour and soda; add to cream mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in vanilla. Add coconut and nuts. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into 3 well-greased 8-inch round pans. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes.Frosting:1 (8 oz.) pkg. Philadelphia cream cheese1/2 stick margarine1 (1 lb.) box powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla Beat softened cream cheese and margarine. Add sugar; mix well. Add vanilla. Frost between layers and top of cake.
