- vanilla - 1 tsp

- chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- eggs, separated - 5 item
- coconut - 1 c
- oil - 1/2 c
- buttermilk - 1 c
- stick butter - 1 item
- powdered sugar - 1 lb
- self-rising flour - 2 c
- coconut optional - 1 item
How to make italian cream cake:
Icing:1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened1 lb. powdered sugar1 stick butter1/2 c. chopped nuts1 tsp. vanilla coconut (optional) Cream butter, oil and sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time. Add sifted flour alternately with buttermilk. Add vanilla, coconut and nuts. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into batter. Pour into 3 well-greased and floured 8-inch cake pans. Bake at 325° for 45 to 50 minutes.Icing: Beat cream cheese and butter. Add vanilla, sugar and nuts. Beat until smooth.
