  • water - 2 3
  • chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
  • salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
  • oregano - 1 tsp
  • marjoram - 1 tsp
  • thyme - 1 tsp
  • Worcestershire - 2 Tbsp
  • few drops Tabasco sauce - 1 item
  • rump roast - 1 (5
  • or 2 cloves garlic - 1 item
  • to 3 bouillon cubes - 2 item

How to make italian beef:

Put roast on rack in open pan. Bake at 325°, allowing 40 minutes per pound. (Roast will be slightly rare.) Cool and slice very thin.

To the drippings in pan, add water and 1 bouillon cube for each cup of water. Add spices, Tabasco and Worcestershire sauces, salt and pepper, garlic and green pepper. Simmer 15 minutes. Add thinly sliced beef and marinate in refrigerator for 4 to 5 hours or overnight.

When ready to serve, bring mixture to simmer on top of stove. Do not boil, only heat through. Serve on Italian bread or buns; also good with rice.
