Ingredients/Components
- unsifted whole-wheat flour - 2 c
- rolled oats - 1 c
- salt
- raisins or 1 c - 2 c
- unsifted unbleached flour - 1 c
- baking soda - 1 Tbsp
- caraway seeds - 2 Tbsp
- buttermilk - 2 c
How to make irish soda bread:
In large bowl, combine all dry ingredients. Stir in buttermilk. Knead on floured board lightly. Shape dough into ball and place in greased 2-quart casserole. Cut 4-inch cross on top with floured back of knife. Bake at 375° for 40 minutes. Remove and cool on wire rack.Recipe categories: Breads, Quick breads, Irish.
