Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- butter or margarine - 1/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 4 c
- buttermilk
- baking powder - 1 Tbsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- raisins - 1 lb
How to make irish scone:
Heat oven to 375°. Grease a loaf pan with shortening. Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir in butter and raisins. Place buttermilk, egg and baking soda in a bowl and beat with a fork. Add egg mixture to dry ingredients, stirring until blended. Turn out dough onto a floured board and knead lightly until smooth. Place in pan and bake. Check after 35 minutes (may take a bit longer).Recipe categories: Cakes, Quick breads, Scones.
