Indian fry bread
Ingredients/Components
- flour - 4 c
- dry milk - 2 Tbsp
- shortening - 1 Tbsp
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- salt - 2 tsp
- warm water - 2 c
How to make indian fry bread:
Sift dry ingredients together and mix in shortening. Gradually add the warm water. Mix very gently. Knead until dough is soft to handle. Cover and let dough rise for about 20 minutes. Roll into golf ball size pieces. Flatten with hands and make hole in center.Drop in hot oil about 3/4 inch deep and fry until golden brown. Turn and fry the other side. Serve hot with butter and honey.
