Indian fry bread
Ingredients/Components
- self-rising flour - 4 c
- a pinch of salt - 1 item
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1 Tbsp
- water enough to make a dough - 1 item
How to make indian fry bread:
Mix flour and baking powder (really good), then cut in shortening. Add water. Knead, but not too much. Let dough set for a few minutes. Pinch off enough dough to form a small ball and flatten. You can make them as small or as big as you want. Drop into hot grease. Let each side brown; doesn't take long.Enjoy!! Goes good with honey (for palefaces), beans, soup or just anything. They can be reheated and they do keep in the freezer.
