Icebox rolls



  • sugar - 6 Tbsp
  • eggs - 2 item
  • pkg
  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 1 c
  • shortening - 7 Tbsp
  • flour if self-rising is used, omit salt - 6 7

How to make icebox rolls:

Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water. Mix 3/4 cup water, milk, sugar, salt and shortening. Heat. Let cool to lukewarm, then add beaten eggs. Add yeast, then enough flour to make a stiff dough. Grease top of dough. Cover and place in refrigerator. Let rise about 4 to 6 hours or overnight. Knead well. Roll out and cut. Brush with butter and fold over. Put in warm place and let rise until double. Bake at 350° or 375° until brown. Makes 5 dozen rolls.
