  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1 Tbsp
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • finely chopped onion - 3 Tbsp
  • corn meal - 2 c

How to make hush puppies:

Mix dry ingredients together; add onion, then buttermilk. Stir in beaten egg; drop by spoonful into deep, hot fat. (Puritan or Crisco oil). Fry to a golden brown; drain on paper. If deep frying, the hush puppy bread will float when done.
