  • salt - 1/4 Tbsp
  • flour - 1/2 c
  • buttermilk - 3/4 c
  • baking powder - 2 Tbsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • medium onion, chopped - 1 item
  • corn meal - 1 c
  • sugar heaping - 1 Tbsp

How to make hush puppies:

Mix dry ingredients with milk; mixture will be thick. Add onion and egg; beat. Refrigerate batter all day. Drop batter from a small spoon into deep fat. Cook over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes, or until golden brown.
