Hungarian goulash
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- brown sugar - 1 Tbsp
- water
- shortening - 1/4 c
- dry mustard - 1 tsp
- paprika - 2 tsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 2 Tbsp
- chopped onion - 1/4 1/2
- catsup - 3/4 c
- clove garlic - 1 item
- red pepper to taste - 1 item
- egg noodles - 3 c
- beef, cut in 1-inch cubes - 2 lb
How to make hungarian goulash:
Melt shortening in large skillet; add onions, garlic and beef. Cook and stir until browned; stir in catsup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, paprika, mustard, pepper and 1 1/2 cups of water. Cover; simmer 2 hours (I use round steak; it will become tender if simmered for 2 hours). Blend flour slowly with 1/4 cup water; stir gradually into meat mixture until thickened, 1 minute.
