Ingredients/Components

  • packed brown sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • sour cream - 1 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • water
  • oil - 2 3
  • dry mustard - 1/2 tsp
  • paprika - 2 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 2 Tbsp
  • catsup - 3/4 c
  • dash of cayenne pepper - 1 item
  • clove garlic, chopped - 1 item
  • medium onion, sliced - 1 item
  • beef 1-inch cubes - 2 lb

How to make hungarian goulash:

Cook and stir beef, onion and garlic in oil until beef is browned; drain. Stir in 1 1/2 cups water, catsup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt, paprika, mustard and red pepper. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer until beef is tender, 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

Shake 1/4 cup cold water and flour in tightly covered container; stir gradually into beef mixture. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly for 3 minutes. Cover tightly. Let stand off heat for 5 minutes, then stir in sour cream. Serve over hot noodles. Serves 6 to 8.
