Hot german potato salad
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 2
- salt
- water - 3/4 c
- vinegar - 1/2 c
- dash of pepper - 1 item
- celery seed - 1/2 tsp
- slices bacon - 6 item
- bacon fat - 1/3 c
- Gold Medal flour - 2 Tbsp
- thinly sliced yellow onion - 3/4 c
- medium potatoes with skin - 6 item
How to make hot german potato salad:
Boil potatoes with skin until tender. Peel and slice thinly into bowl. Fry bacon until crisp and reserve fat. Cool potatoes and add 1/3 cup bacon fat in a skillet until potatoes are yellow. Add sliced yellow onion.In separate bowl, mix Gold Medal flour and sugar (as desired), salt, celery seed and if desired a dash of pepper. Stir in gradually the water and vinegar. Cook stirring until mixture boils. Boil 1 minute. Pour over the potatoes and add cooked bacon, broken into pieces. Save some bacon for garnishing. Cover and let stand until ready to serve.
