Hot dog relish
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 6 c
- salt - 1/2 c
- water - 2 c
- cider vinegar - 4 c
- celery seed - 1 Tbsp
- head cabbage - 1 item
- mustard seed - 2 tsp
- turmeric
- onions - 4 c
- green tomatoes - 12 item
- red bell peppers - 8 item
- green bell peppers - 12 item
How to make hot dog relish:
Grind all vegetables through food chopper. Mix well. Put into a crock or plastic container (not metal). Sprinkle 1/2 cup salt over this. Cover and let stand overnight. Drain and rinse. The best way to rinse without losing part of it is to put it into a cloth sack. You can run water through and squeeze until it is rinsed good. Put into a large pan. Add all other ingredients and cook to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes. Pour into jars and seal.Recipe categories: < 30 mins, Condiments, etc., Vegetables.
