Ingredients/Components

  • milk
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • baking powder - 1 Tbsp
  • shortening - 1/4 c
  • all-purpose flour - 2 c

How to make hot biscuits:

Heat oven to 450°. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening to flour mixture. Stir in about 3/4 cup milk with a fork, gradually add additional milk, if needed, to make a soft, almost sticky dough. Turn dough out on lightly floured wax paper and knead just until smooth. Roll dough about 1/2-inch thick and cut with a floured cutter. Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly brown. Brush with margarine or butter.
