Homemade tomato soup
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- butter or margarine - 1/4 lb
- flour - 1/4 c
- 3 oz - 1 can
- heavy cream - 1 c
- chicken broth
- salt and pepper - 1 item
- olive oil - 2 Tbsp
- tomato paste - 3 Tbsp
- large onion, chopped - 1 item
- dried basil - 1/2 tsp
- dried thyme - 1/2 tsp
How to make homemade tomato soup:
Melt butter in large pot. Add olive oil, thyme, basil, salt and pepper. Saute until onion is wilted. Add tomatoes and tomato paste. Cook 10 minutes. Blend flour with about 5 tablespoons of broth. Stir into tomato mixture. Add remaining broth and cook 20 minutes, stirring frequently. Add sugar and cream. Heat until serving temperature.
