Ingredients/Components

  • lukewarm fat - 5 lb
  • can lye - 1 item
  • cold water - 1 qt
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • ammonia - 1/4 c
  • Borax - 3 tsp

How to make homemade soap:

Melt fat and strain. Dissolve lye in cold water; set aside to cool. Add fat slowly, constantly stirring mixture. Mix other ingredients together and add to first mixture. Stir the whole thing until thick and light colored. Mix in stainless pans and pour in box lined with cloth. Mark into pieces of desired size and cut before it hardens.
