Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 5 c
  • salt - 1/2 c
  • vinegar - 5 c
  • minced onions - 2 item
  • bushel tomatoes - 1/2 item
  • paprika to color - 1 item
  • ketchup spice - 1/4 c

How to make homemade ketchup:

Wash, peel and cut up tomatoes. Cook, strain and boil again to boiling, until 3/4 previous amount. Stir frequently. Add vinegar, paprika, sugar and salt. Add ketchup, spice and onions. Cook until thick. Pour in pint jars. Let seal. Makes 10 pints.

My grandma used to make this and it was in the air for a week.
