Homemade ice cream
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- half and half - 3 pt
- vanilla - 3 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- water - 3/4 c
- eggs, beaten - 6 item
- envelope unflavored gelatin - 1 item
- cold milk - 1/2 c
- scalded milk
- whole milk - 3 4
- rock salt - 3 c
- chipped ice - 1 item
How to make homemade ice cream:
Bring the sugar and water to a boil for 5 minutes. Soften the gelatin in the cold milk; stir until dissolved. Add the scalded milk to the gelatin mixture to dissolve. Add the sugar syrup, salt, eggs, vanilla, half and half and milk. Pour into a 1-gallon ice cream freezer. Use chipped ice and approximately 3 cups rock salt.
