Ingredients/Components

  • granulated sugar - 3/4 c
  • packed brown sugar - 3/4 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • all-purpose flour
  • margarine, softened - 1 c
  • semi-sweet chocolate chips 12 oz - 1 pkg
  • c coarsely chopped nuts - 1 item

How to make homemade chocolate chip cookies:

Heat oven to 375°. Mix margarine, sugars and egg. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt (dough will be stiff). Stir in nuts and chocolate chips. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until light brown 8 to 10 minutes (centers will be soft). Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet. Makes about 6 dozen cookies; 90 calories per cookie.

If using self-rising flour, omit baking soda and salt.
