Ingredients/Components
- raisins - 2 c
- sugar
- flour - 2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- margarine - 1/2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- chopped nuts optional - 1/2 c
How to make hermits:
Cover raisins with cold water; simmer about 10 minutes. Drain and cool. Cream the margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time; beat well after each addition. Sift dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Add raisins and nuts; fold in thoroughly. Batter will be stiff. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.
