  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • baking soda - 2 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening - 3/4 c
  • molasses - 1/4 c
  • ginger - 3/4 tsp
  • sifted flour
  • raisins - 1/2 c
  • ground cloves - 1/2 tsp

How to make hermits:

Sift together soda, salt, flour, ginger, cinnamon and ground cloves. Mix shortening, sugar, egg and molasses well. Stir in remaining sifted ingredients. Add raisins last. Press evenly over ungreased jelly roll pan (11 x 17-inch) or shape in rolls abou
