Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 2 Tbsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • vinegar - 2 Tbsp
  • shortening - 3 Tbsp
  • all-purpose flour - 1/4 c
  • soy sauce - 2 Tbsp
  • can sliced mushrooms, drained - 1 oz
  • medium green pepper, cut in strips - 1 item
  • cubed, cooked pork - 2 c
  • can water chestnuts, drained and sliced thin - 1 oz
  • can pineapple cubes, drained reserve syrup - 1 1/2

How to make hawaiian pork:

Beat egg in a medium bowl. Add water, flour and salt until smooth. Stir in meat, mixing until coated. Melt shortening in medium skillet. Add meat mixture; cook and stir until meat is brown. Remove from heat; keep warm.

Blend cornstarch, reserved pineapple syrup, vinegar and soy sauce in pan; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir 1 minute. Stir in pineapple, green pepper, water chestnuts and mushrooms. Cook and stir until green pepper is tender. Stir in meat. Heat through. Serve on rice. Makes 6 servings.
