Hawaiian pork
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- water - 2 Tbsp
- egg - 1 item
- vinegar - 2 Tbsp
- shortening - 3 Tbsp
- all-purpose flour - 1/4 c
- soy sauce - 2 Tbsp
- can sliced mushrooms, drained - 1 oz
- medium green pepper, cut in strips - 1 item
- cubed, cooked pork - 2 c
- can water chestnuts, drained and sliced thin - 1 oz
- can pineapple cubes, drained reserve syrup - 1 1/2
How to make hawaiian pork:
Beat egg in a medium bowl. Add water, flour and salt until smooth. Stir in meat, mixing until coated. Melt shortening in medium skillet. Add meat mixture; cook and stir until meat is brown. Remove from heat; keep warm.Blend cornstarch, reserved pineapple syrup, vinegar and soy sauce in pan; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir 1 minute. Stir in pineapple, green pepper, water chestnuts and mushrooms. Cook and stir until green pepper is tender. Stir in meat. Heat through. Serve on rice. Makes 6 servings.
