Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 c
  • vanilla extract - 2 tsp
  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • eggs, beaten - 3 item
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • vegetable oil - 1 c
  • all-purpose flour - 3 c
  • can crushed pineapple, drained - 1 oz
  • ground cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • chopped pecans or walnuts - 1 c
  • mashed, ripe bananas about 5 - 2 c

How to make hawaiian pineapple banana bread:

Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Stir in nuts. In a separate bowl, combine remaining ingredients; mix well. Pour wet mixture into dry mixture, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.

Spoon batter into 2 greased and floured 8 x 4-inch loaf pans. Bake for about 1 1/2 hours. Cool in pans for 10 minutes. Remove from pans and let cool on wire racks.

Note: In Hawaii they use Macadamia nuts. Pecans or walnuts work just as well.
