  • pkg - 1 oz
  • sour cream - 1 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • butter, melted - 1/4 c
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • can cream of chicken soup - 1 3/4
  • corn flakes, crushed - 1 c
  • finely chopped onion optional - 1 c
  • shredded American or Cheddar cheese - 2 c

How to make hash brown potato casserole:

In a large mixing bowl combine the shredded cheese, chicken soup, sour cream, chopped onion, 1/4 cup butter, salt and pepper; mix well. Fold in the thawed hash brown potatoes. Turn mixture into a greased 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Toss together crushed corn flakes and 1 tablespoon of melted butter; sprinkle over the potato mixture. Bake at 350° for about 1 hour or until golden brown and potatoes are tender.
