Ingredients/Components

  • pkg - 2 lb
  • sour cream - 1 pt
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • grated Cheddar cheese - 2 c
  • crushed corn flakes - 2 c
  • margarine or butter, melted - 1/2 c
  • can cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup - 1 item

How to make hash brown potato casserole:

Mix all ingredients together, except butter and cheese, and spread in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Top with melted butter and crushed corn flakes. Bake at 350° for 45 to 60 minutes. Serves 6 to 8. Can be made the day before.

Variations: One half teaspoon garlic salt substituted for salt. Instead of mixing cheese in with other ingredients, sprinkle it on top of potato mixture and then top with corn flakes.
