Hamburger quiche
Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 3 item
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- cold water - 1/3 c
- mayonnaise - 1/2 c
- sliced mushrooms - 1 c
- thinly sliced green onions - 1/2 c
- coarsely ground beef - 1 lb
- grated Swiss or Cheddar cheese - 2 c
- salt, pepper, thyme and nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
How to make hamburger quiche:
Pastry Shell:2 c. flour1/2 tsp. salt3/4 c. butter1/3 c. cold water Melt butter in medium skillet at medium heat. Add ground beef and mushrooms. Brown 5 minutes. Drain meat; remove from skillet. In skillet, mix mayonnaise, milk, eggs and cornstarch. Stir until smooth. Add meat mixture, cheese, onions, salt, pepper, thyme and nutmeg; set aside.Pastry Shell: Add salt to flour; cut in butter. Sprinkle with cold water. Mix until blended (use a fork to blend) on floured board. Knead until smooth. Make into ball. Chill overnight. Roll to 1/8-inch; ease into quiche pan. Bake 8 minutes at 400° before filling. Fill with meat mixture. Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 350°.
